If you want to work in one of the liveliest areas on a cruise ship, you might consider a casino job. Casino jobs on cruise ships come in all shapes and sizes from entry-level to senior level. Casino jobs on cruise ships include but are not limited to:

The casino inspector works under the watchful eye of the senior gaming inspector. Casino inspectors inspect casino cards and dice, observe casino operations to make sure all regulations are being met, and he will observe inspections of gaming equipment. Casino inspectors or 'gaming inspectors,' are responsible for placing gaming seals on approved slot machines, checking licenses, testing devices, and receiving and processing grievances and disputes. These are just a few of the dozens of activities casino inspectors are responsible for. Casino inspectors in cruise ships earn $37,760-$40,000 per year and senior gaming inspectors may start at around $50,000+ per year.

The casino manager oversees all operations of the casino, as well as accounting and overseeing the casino staff. Salary ranges from $2,900-$3,800 per month. The assistant casino manager oversees operations of the casino under the direction of the casino manager. Assistant casino managers typically earn $2,400-$3,100 per month.

Casino dealers oversee roulette, black jack, and baccarat games and earn $1,900-$2,600 per month plus tips. Casino dealers have excellent advancement opportunities. Most are promoted to assistant casino manager, then casino manager.

Slot technicians are responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all casino devices and machines. Slot technicians earn around $2,500-$2,800 per month plus tips. Cashiers are responsible for the accounting of revenue and they work under the direction of the casino manager. This is an entry-level position with room to grow. Cashiers earn around $1,400-$1,900 per month plus tips.

Cruises Employment Opportunities

To become a member of the casino staff on cruise ships, applicants must have most of the same qualifications as they would for land-based casino jobs. For management and inspection positions, most cruise ships prefer an associate degree or higher in a technical field, research, legal/law, finance, hotel management or accommodations, or other related field. Applicants must also have excellent reporting skills, excellent computer skills, and investigative and analytical skills.

For dealers, you must have experience working in a land or sea-based casino and an associates degree may be useful, For slot technicians, you must have extensive experience with installing and repairing slot machines and you must have a certificate or technical degree in a mechanical or electrical field. Cashiers must have accounting, and cash-handling experience, preferably in a casino or similar environment. Customer service experience is useful as well.

All casino applicants must also be 21 years of age, speak fluent English, have a clean criminal background, meaning, no felony convictions, and they must pass a drug test. Identification is required as well and the only acceptable forms of identification are a passport or driver's license.

If you think you have what it takes to become a casino employee on a cruise ship, you may begin your job search by choosing several large cruise lines. Mega cruise ships are more likely to have one or more casinos. You can find official listings for cruise lines and websites by visiting the Ships and Cruises Directory at www.shipsandcruises.com. You can also visit www.gamingfloor.com to find out exactly which ships have casinos at sea.

Once you have located several cruise lines or cruise ships, visit the official website and visit the employment page. If the cruise line lists job openings, simply follow the online application procedure to apply. If the cruise line does not list job openings, send a polished cover letter and resume to the cruise lines Human Resources Department. The Human Resources Department is typically located at the cruise line's headquarters. This information is usually listed on the cruise line website. It is important to include the position you are interested in so that it can be directed to the appropriate department manager.
